The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has restarted work  on the Arraiján - La Chorrera highway, after applying  a compliance bond, because it was not satisfied with the works delivered by Transcaribe Trading, SA, which was awarded the tender in 2010

MOP Inspection Director, Nicolás Real, said the works that are being developed to finalize the design and construction project for the rehabilitation and widening of the highway.  originally at a cost of up to $161.8 million.

On August 19, partial and intermittent closures on the fast track began to give way to project improvements. The improvements made do not have an additional cost to the contract, the MOP reported.

An MOP official said that they are validating the scope of the work that must be carried out in this way, and their duration will be defined in December.

One of the jobs that are visible within the rehabilitation and widening of the highway is the change of the barrier walls, known as New Jersey, higher than those originally placed.
