After a march from the Seafood Market to the Presidency on Tuesday representatives of Copa Airlines pilots, cabin personnel, and airport workers met with the legal advisor of the Executive, Juan Hernández, and presented a document listing alleged faults that the airline has committed in the agreements that regulate the employment relationship as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Spokesmen for the National Federation of Airport Industry Workers claim that the company is negotiating the modification of the working day directly with workers when in the collective agreement it indicates that it must be done in the presence of the union to which the worker belongs.

They also claim indicate that the airline is calling employees to carry out specific jobs, but without lifting the suspension of contracts.

The workers also warned that they are asked to resign electronically to avail themselves of retirement plans, without detailing the settlement amounts or benefits offered.

Copa Airlines issued a statement indicating  that since  the beginning of the pandemic  it has held more than 70 meetings with the four unions of the company and more than 30 meetings with its employees, "handling the difficult situation it faces in the most fair and transparent way."
