Panama’s Consumer Protection Authority (Acodeco) handled nearly 6,000 complaints in 2018, with complaints about expired products, with no expiration date or price irregularities topping the list, followed by misleading advertising.

According to the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco), representing 2,848 or 50.25% of the 5,667 irregularities detected by. consumers in stores. last year. misleading advertising had 897 anomalies or 15.83% of the total number of complaints filed.

Between January and December of 2018, there were also 810 complaints (14.29%) for evading the discounts to retired pensioners and seniors; 487 (8.59%) for noncompliance with price control.

The majority of the complaints were made through the Acodeco app.
