LEADERS of the judiciary and the Administrative Court of Public Contracting were at the National Assembly on Monday, August 20 to express their concerns about budget cuts.

The presiding judge of the Supreme Court Jose Ayu Prado,  said they had requested $257 million for next year , but only $118 million were recommended for the  operation.

Ayu Prado said that they will try to find  ways of working with the allocated budget, even if it means that many contracts may not be renewed, as well as projects to be implemented will be put aside.

He also questioned that no budget was allocated to implement the Judicial Career Law, which was recently approved by the Executive. “The legal profession cannot postpone the implementation of a new system of criminal prosecution, without the staff. We need those resources," said Ayu Prado.
