PANAMA'S Mayoralty is looking into giving an extra boost to tourism in the city as it evaluates the creation of a tourism management team to manage various structures under its administration that need to be restored.

Deputy Mayor of the Capital District, Raisa Banfield, stressed that the office would have as its main objective the rescue and maintenance of tourist sites and the continued promotion of tourism.
Currently there are projects to restore and create tourist sites in the capital. Including the rehabilitation of the long neglected Mi Pueblito on Ancon Hill, improvements to the Seafood Market, and construction of parks in the north and east of the city.
During 2014 some 2.3 million tourists visited Panama, but Panama hotels are suffering from an over supply of rooms and for visitor’s it’s a buyers’ market.
