Out and about
In a month of National Celebrations for Expats from Canada,France and the U.S., Canadians, will be taking two bites at the cherry.
Plans are afoot to mark Canada Day July 1, but the Canadian Association has added an additional event with a picnic on July 17, when expats and Panamanians have recovered from a month of World Cup fever.
The picnic will be held at the Bohio of the Kiwanis Sports Area in The City of Knowledge, and in addition to expat Canadians, special invitees will be Panamanian professionals who are studying advance-level English at Florida State University's English Language Program, who are delighted at the prospect of learning about Canada.
Preparation and cooking of the food will be by the students of the Panama International Hotel School, under the direction of Chef Francisco Castro, Director of the school's Culinary Art Program.
The picnic will be, from noon to 4 p.m. whatever the weather and the menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, pasta, punch, sodas, fun and games for all, including children
The family event is within a block of the entrance for visiting the Miraflores Locks.
