The CanadaPLUS Club is not known for letting grass grow under its feet and with a near sell out for the Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre series in it has already finalized plans for Canadian Thanksgiving.

This year the celebration will be held on Thanksgiving Day, Monday October 8, at the Mirimar Intercontinental Hotel and along with the traditional Turkey Dinner, with all the trimmings there will be a gourmet menu, open bar entertainment, music and dancing and a tombola with exciting prizes which will help to fund the upcoming Carols by Candlelight Festival, raising money for multiple charities.
And just as you don’t have to be Canadian to belong to CanadaPLUS, which has members from over a score of countries, all are welcome to join in the annual celebration which coincides with the American Columbus Day.
The history of Thanksgiving in Canada can be traced back to the 1578 voyage of Martin Frobisher from England in search of the North West Passage. The expedition was plagued by ice and freak storms which at times had scattered the fleet of 15 ships and on returning to their anchorage in Frobisher Bay, they celebrated “theyr strange and miraculous deliverance in those so dangerous places.”
This year’s celebration, in Panama, minus the snow and ice, will start at 7.30 pm. dinner at 8.
