Out and About

Canadians, who would like to socialize with fellow countrymen, Panamanians and others, who want to practice their English or find out more about their far norther neighbor, or anyone seeking gems of information from a Panamanian resettlement guru, will be welcomed at a Canadian Association of Panama event on Thursday (May 6).

Among the guests will be the President of Global Vision, Terry Clifford, who arrived in Panama on Sunday (May 2,) “fresh” from Canada’s still snow covered, northernmost province, to provide input to a book project marking the 20th anniversary of the organization.

Other teams of Junior Ambassadors have traveled the world to APEC conferences and on Trade and cultural missions from Asia to Europe, the United States and Latin America. In June it will be hosting a four day event in the House of Commons as a curtain raiser to the Group of 8 and Groupd of 20 meetings, both taking place in Ontario in June.
Jaime E. Figueroa, Managing Director of Panama All in One. will be on hand to give a quick overview of challenges and opportunities for expats in, or planning to come to Panama, and will be available to answer questions.
Board members will be around to update you on plans for Canada Day festivities and the Thanksgiving Dinner, scheduled for October 9 at the Sheraton Hotel, adjacent to Atlapa. Lots of good times ahead, so join up and become a participant.
For the rest, meet some Canucks, share gossip and enjoy a happy hour cerveza or two plus the deservedly praised food of chef Cesar, at Oldies on Calle 39. That’s the road leading from Avenida Balboa to the National Hospital. If you are familiar with the old Marbella restaurant on Balboa (The forlorn sign still stands on the corner next to the empty site) that’s the street. If you get lost call 6619-6890. The fun starts at 7 p.m.
