Out and about
The next monthly get together of the Canadian Association of Panama will include resettlement “guru” Jaime Figueroa who heads Panama All In One, a one stop shopping place for those planning to settle or just looking to test the waters.
He will be there to share some of his experiences, impart some advice, and answer questions.
And of course there will be time to chat, catch up on the latest gossip, dine and wine, or just sip a coffee.
As usual the event is not just for Association members, but for all with an interest in the soon to be Free Trade Partner of Panama. Perhaps you just want to practice your English, or buff up on some of the unique Canadian expressions.
The meeting will be at Oldies on Thursday May 6 at 7 p.m. and will be an official happy hour for the Association from 7-9 p.m. with special menu discounts.
Board members who will be present will bring you up to date on the latest developments and plans for other events during the year.
Already in place is the date and location of the Thanksgiving Dinner, which is guaranteed to be an event to remember. It will take place at the Sheraton Hotel at Atlapa on Saturday October 9. Turkey and all the trimmings? Of course.
Tickets will be on sale in June, and I recommend early purchase, as I’m assured it is going to be a sell out. More details later,
Another event that you won’t want to miss will be the Canada Day family event. Canada day of course is July 1, but to ensure members are free to attend any celebration that may be planned by the Canadian embassy, a special function will be held in the afternoon of Saturday, July 10.
Studies of plans to help a Panamanian school or schools are in hand, and educational scholarships for Panamanian teachers of English are in place.
Oldies, for those of you who have not sampled the food and old time videos of this new “in” place, ison Calle 39. That’s the road that leads up from Avenida Balboa to the National Hospital. You will still see the sign of the late lamented Marbella Restaurant. Maybe the site can be used for a picnic. {jathumbnail off}
