University rejects election rule change

A PROPOSAL  that would modify  the election process for the University of Panama has been  rejected

Rector Eduardo Flores announced the decision on his Twitter account He said the council said the proposal "is an attack on the school's autonomy."

The National Assembly is considering the measure, which would govern elections at all public universities.

The Commission of Education of the National Assembly approved the bill on first debate on Octpber 17.

The bill  sets the term of senior university authorities at five years and allows them to be elected to no more than two terms.
