COFFEE EXPERTS from around the  globe  are in Panama for the 10th edition of “The Best of Panama” an  international tasting  event that will rank the nation's coffee producers  and show the world that there are more things in the country than the Panama Papers and money laundering scandals.

Panama coffees including geisha are prized in many countries from Europe to Japan and Australasia. And fetch high prices at auctions.

The tasting started in Boquete, Chiriqui on Wednesday May 11, and will conclude on Sunday May 14.

In each sampling 18 international judges will rank the entries on 10 attributes such as  taste, aroma, acidity, body, balance and consistency, said Ricardo Koyner, president of the Association of Specialty Coffees of Panama (SCAP).

In addition to the judges there are 20 invited international guests who could be future buyers," said Koyner.
