The mother of a child killed by a car driven by the daughter of a woman nominated for a post as an alternate Supreme Court Judge, says the nomination is a mockery.

While crossing the road near the Tecnological University in January 2003, Kathia  Guerra and her 3 year old son Jovany Gladimir Murillo were struck by a car driven by Sherina Latorraca, daughter Zaira Latorraca Santamaría, recently appointed by President Ricardo Martinelli as an alternate judge for the Supreme Court, says El Siglo.
“Sherina fled. My son died right there, I was in a coma for several days" said the mother, now 38.
"Then, Sherina hid the car to mislead the police.
"After the accident, her mother Zaira, sent the car (a BMW) to a body shop to hide the evidence of the collision that killed my son," she said.
“Zaira Latorraca used her influence to get her daughter free, mocked justice, my son and my pain as a mother," said Kathia, who after years of being unemployed recently got a job in a warehouse.
She says that the nomination of Judge Zaira of Latorraca as alternate to the Supreme Court by President Richard Martinelli, "is a mockery".
"I ask the Members of the Legislative Assembly not to ratify Latorraca Zaira Santamaría," Kathia said.
The driver of the car, Sherina Latorraca now works in the Ombudsman’s office says the report.
