Supreme Court judge buying millionaire apartments for cash

The cash purchase of a $1.79 million apartment by a Supreme Court judge has got Panama social media and political commentators buzzing following a front page story in La Prensa on Tuesday, September 30.

 The report says that in August 2014, Alpil Corporation, SA created a year ago, bought an apartment in a luxury condominium located in Coco del Mar.
According to research conducted by La Prensa the Alpil Corporation SA, belongs to Judge Alejandro Moncada Luna who joined
the Court in 2010, via then President Ricardo Martinelli.

Moncada's wife, Maria del Pilar, worked in the office of the first lady, Marta Linares de Martinelli.

On January 2, 2013, Martinelli got his good friend appointed president of the Supreme Court says La Prensa.

While this was happening, the transfer was being processed for the apartment located on the 16th floor condominium Santorini.

The acquisition of the millionaire property is a sign of the new wealth of Moncada Luna who has of other assets, all registered as corporations and foundations
For example, another apartment on the 26th floor of Ocean Sky Tower, near Santorini, was bought through another corporation for $400,000, paid in cash.
