Security gets a $50 million increment

Another $50 million has been allocated to security in Panama.

The Budget Committee of the National Assembly has approved the expenditure to for equipment. It will be used to purchase 471 police vehicles, weapons and ammunition which will cost $11.4

Most of the balance will be used to purchase helicopters and an aircraft for the Aeronaval Service. The ministry will spend $5.6 million on a CASA-212-400 aircraft. It will also spend $3.9 million for a cargo helicopter and $10.1 million for five Helitech Support Service helicopters.

Another $3.1 million will be used for equipment for the National Border Patrol.
