Pirate buses defy sanctions

PIRATE BUSES continue to prowl the streets of Panama and its environs in spite of a Transit Authority (ATTT) crackdown penalizing 2,596 drivers in the first half of.2015.

 They were fined for breaches of article 132 of Vehicular Traffic Regulation, which prohibits providing public transport service in unauthorized vehicles.

ATTT Director Julio Gonzalez explained that they have being taken these and other measures to try to reduce the number of traffic accidents and protect the lives of users.
ATTT penalties range from $ 150 to $ 500.
