PANAMANIAN sprinter Alonso Edward reached the200 meter final in the World Athletic Championships in Bejing, on Tuesday August 26 with a time of 20.02 seconds, off from his 19.90 at the Pan American Games in Toronto where he won bronze.

Edward said he was "happy" with his classification in a semifinal in which he had "a very demanding competition."
He came second to the American Justin Gatlin (19.87), big favorite for the final with the permission of the defending champion Jamaican Usain Bolt.
"I do not know what will happen, but I know I'm going to give everything for my country and for all the people who have supported me these past years," said the Panamanian.
Asked about Gatlin and Bolt he said: "They are well prepared and I am also well prepared, but not only them, the eight athletes who go to the end. This is a sport where you never know who can win. There are many favorites and always someone can give a surprise."
