PANAMA’S Attorney General (AG)  is  seeking  judicial assistance from Brazil in its inquiry into money laundering allegations against the law firm Mossack Fonseca.

 Rolando Rodriguez secretary general of the AG office said  that the assistance is required given the fact that the acts were allegedly committed in that country.

Last week, representatives of Mossack Fonseca met with prosecutors and offered their assistance in addressing concerns raised by the investigation in Brazil.

The meeting was confirmed by Carlos Sousa, a Mossack Fonseca lawyer.

According to Sousa, the allegations related to the activities in Brazil were carried out by a satellite office that is independent of the firm's Panama operation.

Brazil ordered the arrest of a number of Mossack Fonseca officials in Brazil due to allegations that they participated in money laundering and the destruction of documents.
