A PANAMANIAN  scientist has been honored  by the American College of Toxicology (ACT) for research into the venom in Panama snakes.

The study led by  researcher, toxicologist Aristides Quintero Rueda, ,was one of only five toxicology studies  from around the world to receive the institutions  award for foreign scientists, and the only one from Latin America.’

He   received the award at the 36th Annual Conference of the American College of Toxicology, in Las Vegas.

The prize includes  a travel grant .

The research, which included Panamanian and Brazilian scientists, was focused on the search for new agents present in venom found in Panamanian snakes.

The results of the study will be published in the International Journal of Toxicology.
