Panama's Ministry of Foreign Affairs  has expressed its satisfaction with the approval of the Global Compact for Orderly and Regular Secure Migration, by all countries of the UN except the United States.

The historic milestone means that for the first time countries achieve a global agreement on the matter.

The document that was made official on Friday, July 13 with the approval of all the countries of the UN, with the exception of the United States, is the first agreement to try to improve the entire global scale migratory process to increase the protection of immigrants.

Panama, in its participation, had advocated, among other issues, for an agreement that would eliminate all existing forms of discrimination, protect and provide good treatment to migrants, especially those in conditions of greater vulnerability.
