NICOLÁS CORCIONE, under investigation for alleged money laundering,  and links to jailed former Supreme Court  Judge, Alejandro Moncada Luna, has bowed to pressure  over  his role as a   director of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), and has decided to temporarily refrain from participating in meetings of the Board of Directors until an inquiries against him are completed.

His decision was outlined in a letter to ACP Chairman Roberto Roy dated Aug. 16.

He said that he made the decision so his legal issued would not affect the image of the ACP. He has been linked to accounts of Moncada Luna, who is serving a five-year sentence for unjustified enrichment.

Corcionne, alleged to have made a $400,000 kickback to the judge, has twice dodged appearances before the  organized crime prosecutor, the first time claiming a pre-arranged family vacation, the second time using his  seat on the boar of the ACP to claim immunity. Will he now show up for interrogation? Only his lawyer knows
