New Cultural Institute director named

THE NEW DIRECTOR of the National Institute of Culture (INAC) Janelle Davidson , was named on  Tuesday, January 18  by President Juan Carlos Varela. 

Davidson  has 14 years of experience  as an actress, singer and producer .She replaces. Juan Francisco Guerrero. to become the third head of the Instiute since Varela took office, and takes over at a time when the Teatro National is closed, awaiting multi-million dollar refurbishing and the Balboa Theatre, urgently needs refurbishing

She currently works as a director of y Black & White Entertainment Panama producing and directing plays and other events to promote art and culture.

"She will have as a mission to guide, encourage, coordinate, direct and promote cultural activities throughout the national territory," said the State Communications secretary.

The president pledged to "provide all the support needed from the central government" to achieve the development of art and culture at the national level. He said this will include the restoration of the National Theatre and other culturally important buildings.
