THE MINISTRY of Public Works (MOP) ha launched a major clean up streams in the city of David, Chiriqui  to prevent neighborhood flooding.

The move comes after months of complaints from residents living near the waterways.

For Aurelio Morales, who lives near one of the streams says  cleanup is urgently needed  because when it rains the creek overflows and reaches the house, and they cannot sleep for fear of flooding.

While the MOP has responded by cleaning water courses, pruning trees and clearing garbage, Chiriqui Governor Hugo Mendez, has asked the population living near streams to  cooperate and not litter the channels .
