FORMER PRESIDENT Ricardo Martinelli said on Tuesday, July 19 that he will soon file a complaint against Juan Carlos Varela “ who is doing nothing but persecuting me."
"The government doesn't know what it is doing," Martinelli said while going to a lunch with former cabinet members.

"They are like turtles. The economy is growing at a snail's pace” [the government took office 7 weeks ago]
He alleged that Varela was using surveillance equipment to intercept his phone calls, something Martinelli was also accused of by U.S. officials while in office, according to Wikileaks documents.
He called the questioning of Comptroller Giaconda de Bianchini, whom he appointed, by the National Assembly an example of the "Varela Brothers Circus" that is running the country. He also questioned the decision to revoke pardons he granted at the end of his term.
At the lunch were Javier Diaz, Alma Cortes, Ricardo Quijano, Romulo Roux, Jaime Ford and others. Noticeably missing was Domingo Arias, the failed CD presidential candidate who. Along with Martinelli’s wife as Vice presidenr was expected to carry the Martinelli mantle through to the next election
