Last new buses for corridor fleet this month

BY THE END of  November  the last of the fleet  of 203 buses destined for the North and South corridors will have arrived in Panama, each with 10 more seats  than buses in the current  fleet of 1,236 metro buses

About 132 of the new model Torino buses, which the State acquired for $37 million, are already in the country and 65 more arrived on Friday, November 17.

Ignasi Armengol, General Manager of First Transit, company that manages Mi Bus, said that, of the 132 metro buses, twelve are in circulation on the route La Doña-Corredor Sur.

The rest of the vehicles (120) are in a process of receiving fare collection and communications systems. Their routes will be numbered.  "As the finishing processes are completed, they will be leaving to provide the service in different corridor routes," Armengol said.

Since Nov 9, when the first new buses went into service with reduced fares.  Passenger flow has increased by 30%.
