A PANAMA Supreme Court Judge, twisting in the eye of a storm over cash purchases of luxury apartment purchases has reacted with threats of legal action against his tormenters.

Alejandro Moncada Luna has announced he will take "civil and criminal" actions against anyone who files a complaint against him for unjustified enrichment or money laundering.
Moncada Luna issued the message — or "clarification" as he called it — through the court's press office reports La Prensa
The judge has been the target of an investigation over the purchase of apartments during the past five years’ worth over $1.7 million. Those purchases have raised questions about how he could afford them, given his salary.
Moncada Luna said the allegations made by La Prensa are not true, and he will submit a formal complaint that will clarify the issue. "They will be forced to clarify these false allegations that they are still publishing," he wrote. Various civic groups, a fellow judge and President Juan Carlos Varela, have called for an investigation.
