A BUSINESSMAN, civilistaanti-Noriega  activist and lead player in the first post Panama invasion government, wants CD vote buying officials jailed.

Aurelio Barría on Tuesday, June 9, called on President-elect Juan Carlos Varela to investigate alleged abuses of the social assistance program PAN.

At the same time, he said he hopes any anomalies uncovered in the investigation will be punished.
"We must eliminate PAN," said Barría, who was the director of the Emergency Social Fund (FES) during the administration of Guillermo Endara (1989-1994).
He said that there are clear indications that PAN funds were used by pro-government officials to buy votes during the election.
"The money vanished," he said. "They have ignored the law and nothing has happened. They have to go to jail."
President Ricardo Martinelli created the PAN to provide greater transparency in the distribution of social assistance. It has handled almost $800 million as part of its budget.
