A HIT AND RUN driver killed a 54-year old street seller setting out to sell his breakfast wares from his tricycle  on Monday, June 2 . The incident was captured on security cameras at a local restaurant on Calle Ricardo J. Alfaro, Eldorado,  and prosecutors are investigating.

The death brings the traffic fatalities on Panama roads in less than six months to 200.

’Macuá' as he was known in the area was a familiar figure who started his rounds at  5.30 a.m. each day to support his family.

The rear wheel of the tricycle  was hit from behind with such force that  he was thrown in the air and some of the supplies were thrown over 100 meters away reports El Siglo.

Witnesses said that one of the tires of the car was damaged, and the driver stopped briefly at a nearby traffic  light before fleeing.

Prosecutors are examining the surveillance cameras.
