Panama’s daily highway carnage continues with  147 fatal victims of traffic accidents nationwide by June 2, alongside thousands of injuries from the over 120 accidents each day according to figures from the National Traffic Operations Directorate (DNOT).

Last year there were 440 deaths largely due to driver abuses like distraction (cell phone use), intoxication and speeding or a toxic combination of all three with 163 dead in crashes 117  in collisions and 33 killed in hit- and -run incidents.
