PANAMA’S Government has completed 35 percent of the strategic development plan it outlined when it took office two years ago according to the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The Ministry’s Public Policy Director Gustavo Valderrama told journalists on Tuesday, September 27, that the present administration  has awarded orders to proceed totaling  $6.8 billion, out of the $19 billion in projects contained in the plan.

Valderrama said the major projects include finishing some works started by the previous government, including the highway expansion between David and Santiago, the expansion of the Tocumen International Airport terminal,  and the expansion of the Metro.

Valderrama  said he is satisfied with the level of execution in the two first years of the government.

He also said that the expansion plan is within the spending guidelines outlined in the Law of Fiscal Social Responsibility.
