FUGITIVE  Panama lawyer Evelyn Ivette Vargas Reynaga,  wanted on an Interpol red alert along with ex-president Ricardo Martinelli’s  two sons,  was arrested in Mexico on Tuesday Feb.22.

Vargas Reynaga, and Martinelli’s sons are  accused of money laundering in the Odebrecht bribery case.

She   arrived  at Panama’s Tocumen International Airport in Panama at 10 38  am, wearing jeans dark glasses and handcuffs hidden under a sweater, and was transferred to the  special anti-corruption prosecutor's office on Via Espana.

The Interpol  red alert was issued on Feb.14 to locate both Vargas Reynaga and the brothers Luis Enrique and Ricardo Alberto Martinelli Linares,
sons of former Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli.

The  brothers are investigated by the Public Ministr (MP) after Swiss prosecutors accused them of bribery and  money laundering, and froze accounts of $22 million.

Prosecutors suspect - based on banking transactions - that the money was paid by Odebrecht.
Vargas Reynaga is related because, according to the investigations, she managed five companies with accounts in  banks in Switzerland, where the Martinelli Linares brothers appear as benefited jointly or separately.
From Miami, the Martinelli Linares sons  recently issued a notarized  statement
disassociating  themselves from the Promoter and Development Los Andes S.A., a company under  investigation  by the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office,   of bribes paid by Odebrecht to Panama  officials  Between 2010 and 2014.
