A 34-year-old man walking on a Santiago. sidewalk pushed his small son, to safety before being hit and killed by an out of control speeding vehicle.

The incident occurred in front of the Hospital Luis 'Chicho' Fábrega, in Santiago, province of Veraguas, at 8:40 pm on Wednesday, July 4.

Witnesses told police that the speeding car spun around several times before overturning on the sidewalk. It was the 18th traffic fatality in the province this year.

The driver and five passengers were injured. Police are investigating.
