PANAMA has formally asked Colombia for the extradition of Mayer Mizrachi says Vice President and Chancellor Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado.

Mizrachi, is the  son of the brother in law of Ricardo Martinelli who also fled the country last year and  is being investigated for offenses against public administration. He was arrested at the end of December in Cartagena on an Interpol red alert

The Foreign Ministry received a request from the Supreme Court to extradite Mizrachi.

He is being investigated for a $211,000 contract he signed with the National Authority of Government Innovation to provide encryption technology for the cell phones of security agents.

Other defendants in the case include Eduardo Jaén, a former director of the authority. Prosecutors claims the contract was never fulfilled even though the payment was made.
