Panama’s Former President Martin Torrijos will be part of an international delegation observing Venezuela’s legislative elections December 6.

Former Spanish President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero will also be part of the delegation, which was invited by the National Electoral Council.

The electoral body said  that more than 100 observers will follow the electoral process, reports La Prensa.

The opposition Mesa de la Unidad Democrática (MUD) has demanded that oversight be provided by the European Union (EU) and the Organization of American States (OAS), but that request has been denied. OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro, said three weeks ago that the conditions in the country "do not currently guarantee a level of transparency in electoral justice."
