AFTER OVER a year in preventive detention, former Minister of Social Development Guillermo Ferrufino has been moved to house arrest.

The Second High Court of Justice issued the order for Ferrufino’s  release while he awaits trial on charges of unjustified enrichment.

He has been held at the headquarters of the Department of Judicial investigation (DIJ) in Ancón.

The decision was signed by judges Secundino Mendieta and Wilfredo Sáenz.

Ferrufino will now be held under house arrest, which is the pre-trial order on charges of embezzlement and corruption of officials that is part of  a second criminal case against him.
