Debt collectors owe Panamanian people 21.8 million -Varela

THE $ 21.8 MILLION commission that the debt collecting company Cobranzas del Istmo charged for allegedly managing the collection of delinquent taxes for Tocumen, SA, must be returned to the Panamanian government said President Juan Carlos Navarro on Friday, April 24.

"I will ask the Attorney General to make a strong research in this area, because this is not right. The Panamanian people do not deserve some funny guy wanting to charge such excessive commission," he said 
The president said that $21.8 million can pay for schools, washrooms, and scholarships and supply medicines to the population.
He said “It's not fair that two or three wheeler dealers want to take the funds that belong to the Panamanian people.
