FIREMEN reached the 45th floor of an offices tower under construction in Costa de Este on Monday afternoon, September 29, to control a fire which had broken out in an area under construction

In the early stages vast clouds of smoke poured from the building standing near the WestIn Hotel, Copa Airlines, Banco Panama , Capital Plaza, and Movistar. on Avenida La Rotonda.
He fire was reported soon after 2 pm andat 3.05 the Panama Fire Department reported the situation had been fully controlled and smoke was no longer visible. The authorities confirmed that there were no injuries. Streets around the building were closed by tcivil defense personnel, as a precaution.
A fire department spokesmen  said that the outbreak originated in the cooling areawhere welding work is performed for   the building under construction .

Frank Archibold, commander of the center region area of Panama, said the building had sprinklers up to the 29th floor , which helped ensure the situation did not worsen
