Corruption exposures send CD membership plummeting.

THE ONGOING revelations of corruption during the previous administration are taking their toll on the membership of the once dominant Democratic Change (CD) Party.

Statistics released by the Electoral Tribunal (TE) show that since January, 10,731 have fled the CD coop and since April 2014 membership has fallen from 458,502, to 382,000.
The Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) driven by internal squabbles has also seen a leakage . Membership has decreased by 3,364 to 441,610 from 444, 974 in January, but it now leads the pack.
The Nationalist Republican Liberal Movement (Molirena), which was in alliance with CD in the past five years, also lost
The Panameñista Party and the Popular Party (PP), currently in government, won adherents. Panameñista had 232,984 members, in January and 235,974.in May.
The PP had 23,957 members in January and in May closed with 23,980.
