City issues fines to vacant lot lagards

OWNERS of multiple vacant lots that are not being maintained across Panama City have been hit with fines following a tour by Mayor José Blandón Blandón, on Monday ,August 18.

He was accompanied by Carlos Monterrey, managing director of waste agency AAUD, during visits to Santa Ana, Bella Vista, Calidonia and Curundú. The penalty, which was amended this month, is from $100 to $10,000.
Lots must be mowed and free of debris or standing water to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes, which carry dengue and other diseases.
During the tour the officials saw a large amount of waste in a number of areas reports La Prensa.
