A 53-YEARS-OLD CANADIAN was shot and killed during a house invasion in Cochea Macano, between David and Boquete, Chiriqui on Saturday evening, July 18.

Joseph Potredenko, his wife Elizabeth) (Betsy) Waddington and her 92-years-old mother were watching television when three of armed men entered the house through a back door at 8.30 pm. A local report said the family had several guard dogs which did not raise an alarm.
When the men  burst into the room where the family were sitting, Potredenko stood up with his arms raised and was shot in the abdomen by a man wielding a silver colored pistol.
The two women were beaten, gagged and tied up with computer cords while the thieves ransacked the house.  They left with three laptops and the family’s Nissan Frontier (license plate 782 874).
Police and prosecutors have launched a major man hunt for the three men involved.
Danilo Samudio, community representative for Macano Cochea, called on the authorities for increased police presence in the area.
“My township is very large, and secluded and there is very little police presence. There have been many burglaries in recent days leaving residents afraid and withdrawn said Samudio.
