Bill to allow free parking at malls moves forward

A BILL which will allow of consumers to park in shopping centers and malls for two hours without charge was passed in first debate in the National Assembly on Tuesday September 16 after being approved by the Commerce Commission.

 This bill provides that all consumers can use up to two hours free of charge, parking on the premises, shopping centers and government offices where they shop, purchase goods or receive a service.
The chairman of the committee, Quibian Panay said they want to provide free parking to citizens, particularly in commercial establishments, and the bill reflects the civil responsibility of employers to the population.
Meanwhile, the legal adviser to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Juan Carlos Reynaldo, argued that the law under discussion undermines private enterprise and legal certainty for foreign investors reports La Prensa.
