Following the pattern set by its predecessors, the new Credentials Committee of the National Assembly archived two complaints against Supreme Court Judges on Tuesday, March 27.

The Committee, which is itself wrapped in a controversy about its legality also decided not to admit and ordered the filing of three allegations that were pending against President Juan Carlos Varela, as well as a denunciation against the vice-president Isabel De Saint Malo.

The committee is responsible for handling complaints against Supreme Court Judges but rarely takes action. In turn complaints involving deputies are handled by the Supreme Court, leading to the widely held perception that the two entities belong to a mutual impunity club.
