THE CONTRACT between Tocumen International Airport and Sky Parking has been terminated, the Secretary of State Communication announced on Tuesday, July 22.
It was another sign of the new administration’s determination to take the covers off many deals made during the Martinelli years

The decision was made by the company, and came just four days after President Juan Carlos Varela indicated that some contracts issued by the airport authority were "prejudicial to the state." Varela said that such contracts were not transparent or a good use of public funds.
It is expected that state revenue from parking at the airport will increase from $500,000 to $3 million annually.
"These and other funds are going to be used for the benefit of the people," said Varela. "We will continue forcefully demanding that money which belongs to the people is respected."
Through a letter, addressed to the airport administration, Sky Parking said it would not pursue any legal action over the contract. Parking will now be handled by the airport authority.
