36 H1N1 cases, 3 deaths

THE NUMBER  of cases of the H1N1 virus in the province of Chiriqui has climbed from 26 to 32 and there have been three deaths, One Cuban and two Panamanian,  reports the Ministry of Health.

Agustin Saldana  the Medical Director of Health in the province confirmed the figures on Tuesday January 26. Three of the cases are minors in the pediatric wards  of  Hospital Jose Domingo De Obaldia.

Health authorities are continuing the  epidemiological alert for the virus, with particular emphasis  in the sector of the border with Costa Rica, Puerto Armuelles, Progress and Paso Canoas.

Across  the province they have  urged people to step up measures to prevent the spread of the virus including: constant washing of  hands, covering  the mouth when sneezing, and avoiding shaking hands
