$26.4 million for Calle Uruguay facelift

THE $26.4 million contract  to revitalize Calle Uruguay has  been to the Meco construction company  says the Panama Mayor’s office.

A a government web site said  that Meco received the highest score from an evaluation committee, getting 99.99 points.

Four other bidders received scores from 97 points to 87.5 points.

The project includes the construction of sidewalks and improvements to storm water drainage. And the burying of  utility wires.

The work is scheduled to be finished in 2018.

Area residents are calling for parking restrictions and the reduction of noise in the area.
