THE RULING which annulled the investigations pf the "zero circle" of Ricardo Martinelli continues to generate bitter controversy.
That decision, which prevents their investigation to be brought to justice to determine whether there was a criminal action, is another blow to the institutions of a body that already lacks credibility; in which some of its officials seem to behave like gang members, rather than judges.
A phrase in the agreement signed with the convicted former president of the Supreme Court has been the excuse for the signatories of the ruling to encourage the most brazen impunity, without even considering that the National Assembly was only empowered to judge the ex-judge Moncada-Luna ,and not the prosecution of the rest , who must face the ordinary courts.
Hopefully the Public Prosecutor gets the Supreme Court, to see if this wrong is corrected, as lawmakers decide whether to do the work of cleaning up the judiciary or - as has tended to happen-before they become accomplices of those who have not the slightest scruple in trampling their high office.
