Panama is readying itself for a World Cup qualifying match on Friday with everything from, beefed up security, free buses , giant screens on the Cinta Costera and time limits on beer sales.
The Panamanian Football Federation (Fepafut) said at a Tuesday October 9 press conference that everything is ready for the crucial game with Honduras at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium .Tickets for the live event were sold out three weeks ago but disappointed fans will be able to see the game on giant screens on the Cinta Costera in the area near the fish market where Carnival was celebrated earlier in the year. 600 security and police personnel will be on duty in addition to the over 900 police , firefighters and security agents assigned to the stadium to watch over the 27,000 fans.
The Rommel Fernandez stadium gates will open from 4:00 pm and beer will go on sale at 6 pm, and will be sold only until the 60th minute of play according to the advice of Sinaproc, Panama’s nation civil response organization.
Free public transport will be available from 5.30 pm at Plaza Conquistador to transport spectators to the Rommel. stadium where Honduran fans will be positioned in a specific area at the east end. .
Back at the Cinta Costera, if Panama wins, ensuring its place in the next stage of the Concacaf hexagonal qualifying for the World Cup, the Cinta Costera convert into a celebration park, the 600 security staff will be stretched, and no patrolling boats will deaden the noise.
