A Royal Ascot winner

“If you want to get ahead get a hat”, was a once favored advertising slogan, and it takes on a double meaning for Panama’s American Society on Sunday June 26.
That’s when members and their guests will be off to the races, in Panama and punters looking for a head start, or wanting to win by a head, will be displaying a range of headwear in the grand tradition of Royal Ascot and the Kentucky Derby.
Amsoc is asking everyone to join in the fun and wear a "race day" hat. the headgear can be as whacky as you like, although for whackiness it will be hard to beat the one that graced (?) the head of Princess Beatrice at the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William of Wales in Westminster Abbey. Perhaps it was a set up by her mother Fergie, former wife of Prince Andrew who was not invited to the wedding and vented her felling to Oprah Winfrey. {jathumbnail off}
For wackiness this one will be hard to beat
No hat is too large or too small, and it isn't just for the ladies
Buffet lunch will be served and there will be an AmSoc Handicap race at 4:00. p.m.
There will be prizes for best hats, door prizes and a tombola.
The price tag is members: $25, non-members $35.
Drinks and betting are not included in the ticket price, but it may be your lucky day and for a couple of bucks extra you could fill that hat with your winnings.
