If you are an animal lover, a lover of choral music, or a combination of both, Sunday May 15 is a date you should circle on your calendar

Panama’s renowned Cantus Chorus is planning a “A Menagerie of Song”,  at St. Mary’s Hall at the St. Mary’s Church in Balboa to raise funds for Spay Panama, The performance starts at 3 p.m.

The cleverly conceived musical tour of the extensive menagerie will visit “all creatures great and  small”  from crickets to hippopotami and,  say the organizers there will be something for everyone to love. There will be music by composers from Mendelssohn to Lennon and McCartney and styles from Renaissance to traditional Venezuelan.
A personal request would be a childhood favorite: “The Teddy Bear’s Picnic”, and I hope the hippopotami are wallowing in “mud glorious mud.”

Proceeds from e concert will be used by Spay Panam to help with a dog and cat sterilization effort in the community of Chepo.  In addition, the animals will be vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, injected with vitamins and have their ears cleaned.

Spay/Panamá is a nongovernmental, non-profit agency whose mission is to control the unnecessary misery and death of stray dogs and cats through an intensive sterilization program.  It is not a kennel – they only do sterilizations.

Spay/Panamá is able to offer sterilization services to pet owners with little means to afford the service and to rescued animals.  Together, they say we can make a difference. A good way to help would be attendance at the concert. Your $5 contribution will be  valued by the volunteers who perform the service.
