Visual pollution in Panama will be reduced over the next four years as the tangle of power lines that are strung along streets start to disappear. 

At a cost of $23 million, Union Fenosa will replace the overhead power lines with underground cables in Panama City, Santiago and David in a four-year period beginning in March 2011 and will culminate in July 2014, said Sebastian Perez , head of distribution for the Utility.

 The tender for the companies responsible for performing civil engineering work will be in November. The power interruption during the change of location for underground cables will be only four hours, not days, said arepresentative of Union Fenosa.

In Panama City  the looks of via Brazil, via Espana. Avenida Federico Boyd Avenue and Calle 50  will be improved, at a cost of $18,774,876 while in Santiago, the works will be from Central Avenue to the American way, covering 3.7 km at a cost of $ 1,817,640.
