On the Town
On Saint Patricks Day, all the world is Irish and in Panama Americans, Colombians, English, Germans, Panamanians, Scots, Welsh, and other nationalities,  set out to prove it and joined with the local  Irish in the wearin’ o’ the green.

Some establishments have advertised the celebration for the weekend, but a true patriot doesn't let March 17 pass by without raising a glass to all that's Irish.

At the Rincon Aleman restaurant on Calle 51 they crowded four deep around the bar in the Biergarten to sip frothy cerveza, traditionally green to honor the patron saint of the Emerald Isle.
The Irish have a way with words, and the descendants of those who fled their home country after the 19th century potato famine, and generations that followed to escape the poverty or civil strife over decades somehow managed to convince the rest of the world that March 17 was a day when everyone should celebrate their patron saint.

Never mind that the traditional celebrations are marked more vociferously in lands far from Erin than they are in the pubs of Dublin.

Never mind either that he came from Wales, which long ago lost the PR battle to Ireland, and whose Saint David is recognized only in the tiny land of song.
None of this historical background mattered to the multi-national crowd, who marked March 17 day with all the fervor of true Irish patriots, raising their green beer filled glasses to the good Saint, with a "top of the mornin'" although it was evening.

A good time was had by  all and Rincon Aleman's host and staff displayed true stamina keeping the throng supplied.
